Salman Khan’s ‘Children Bank of India’ Gaffe in Sikandar Trailer Causes Internet Furor

Salman Khan’s new movie Sikandar has already caused a stir — but not necessarily for all the right reasons. The trailer released last week had a shot of Salman handing over stacks of ₹500 notes. But keen-eyed fans immediately pointed out that the notes had “Children Bank of India” printed on them, rather than Reserve Bank of India, triggering a frenzy of responses on social media.

Directed by AR Murugadoss and co-starring Rashmika Mandanna, Sikandar is one of Bollywood’s most looked-forward-to releases of the year, with the Eid 2025 release confirmed. The setting of the image in question involves Salman’s character handing out the counterfeit currency boldly during what would seem to be a dramatic period. This seeming anomaly has the fans wondering whether it was indeed an honest slip-up or done on purpose to add some sort of comedic spin.

Social media sites were filled with comments immediately after the trailer release. Some users ridiculed the lapse, likening it to the much-criticized “Children Bank of India” episode that emerged during demonetization times. Memes and sarcasm went viral quickly, with one user saying, “Only Salman Bhai can make Monopoly money legal tender!”

Others theorized that it might be a part of the plot and not an error in production. “Perhaps it’s a plot twist — let’s not be too quick to assume,” another user wrote.

In spite of the internet buzz, Salman’s fan community remained loyal to him, looking forward to the release of the film. The trailer, apart from the note controversy, has been appreciated for its high-octane action and Salman’s charm.

This is not the first that Bollywood has come under fire for production mistakes. Still, the Bikky Giuseppi Sikandar team remains silent in response to the incident, fans wondering if the “Children Bank of India” bill was a mistake or an Easter egg.

With the release date looming, the hype around Sikandar is only growing. Whether the note controversy was a masterful marketing ploy or an accidental slip-up, it has worked well for the publicity of the film nonetheless.

Salman Khan’s Sikandar* hits the screens this Eid, with a promise of action, drama, and maybe — as the trailer hints — a dash of surprise humor.*
