In a touching gesture of love and devotion, a bride and bridegroom in Madhya Pradesh decided to get married in a hospital when the bride fell critically ill just a few days before the planned wedding. The wedding, which was conducted on the festive day of Akshay Tritiya, was performed in the OPD block of a government hospital in Rajgarh district, making a healing place become a celebration site.
A Marriage Against All Odds
Aditya Singh and Nandini Solanki had arranged their wedding carefully, with the marriage scheduled for Akshay Tritiya. But just a week before the wedding, Nandini’s health plummeted. She was first treated in a hospital in her hometown of Kumbhraj. When her health continued to deteriorate, she was shifted to hospitals in Binaganj and Biaora. Even as her health improved, doctors ordered complete bed rest, and so a traditional wedding ceremony was out of the question.
With the next suitable wedding date falling two years later, both families decided to proceed with the wedding inside the hospital. Hospital authorities supported the decision, allowing the OPD area to be decorated for the occasion.
A Ceremony Filled with Love
At 1 a.m., the wedding ceremony began under the watchful eyes of doctors and nurses. Aditya came with his wedding entourage, but out of respect for other patients, the traditional ‘band-baaja’ was skipped. In a poignant scene, when it was time to make the holy seven rounds (saat phere), Aditya lifted Nandini in his arms around the fire, while family members showered the couple with flower petals.
The wedding ceremony was a true reflection of the love and strength of the couple, leaving everyone in attendance deeply moved. A hospital wedding video was posted online, showing the tearful moment and touching the hearts of viewers across the country.
A Symbol of True Love
This special wedding, despite love and resolve, has become an emblem of commitment. It testifies to how far people are willing to go to keep their vows, testifying that love cannot be stopped by even boundary conditions such as illness or circumstance.
